Many thanks to everyone who attended the Peace III closing event in the Golden Jubilee Hall on Tuesday, 29th March 2011. Over 70 people attended, which included many school children and youth club members.
Doohamlet National School gave an excellent musical recital using the instruments hired through the Peace III project. Everyone was very impressed at how well everyone could play their instruments despite only having started learning to play. The youth club had a stand displaying photos and crafts from Peace III events.
Chairperson of the DDCDA PJ Harte welcomed everyone to the hall. Anne Malone gave a very detailed presentation of the background, management and events held as part of the Peace III project. Eileen McMeel was available to answer any questions. A slideshow of photos of events held over the course of the project was shown. Pauline Gilsenan expressed her thanks on behalf of the youth club for all of the opportunities Peace III had presented, while Principal Margaret McQuillan thanked the Peace III project and the project administrators for all it had done for Doohamlet National School.
Ms Caitriona Maguire, who attended on behalf of Monaghan County Council, expressed her admiration for all that was achieved by the Doohamlet Community throughout the project and noted how efficiently the project had been managed by the DDCDA.
A presentation of flowers and a token gift were made on behalf of the community to Anne Malone and Eileen McMeel to acknowledge the tireless work they had put in to managing the project over the past 18 months.
The event concluded with light refreshments served - thanks to Majella McArdle, Mary B O Neill, Anne Malone, Marion Irwin among others for organising!
