Update from Crossing the Border Project

Fun Day in Doohamlet was a great success we had over 160 people who participated on the day. We had a range of activities from bouncy castles, rodeo bull, magic show, face painting and variety of petting animals.  I was delighted to meet so many people from Doohamlet and recieve such a warm welcome. I hope you all will avail of the courses, programmes and day trips that is coming up.

Also like to mention the Belfast tour, we visited Crumlin Gaol, tour of murals on Falls and Shankill areas and listen to the life stories of two ex-paramilitaries.  From the evaluations everyone thoroughly enjoyed the tours and listening to stories of the troubles.

Coming up next:

History of Ireland Course, which looks at historical facts surrounding the events that took place in Ireland with a day trip to Dublin to visit a range of different sites.  This course is fully booked.  the dates are Monday 11, 18th, 25th March in Doohamlet from 7.30pm-9.30pm. Mon 8th, 15th , 22nd in Armagh from 7.30pm-9.30pm and day trip to Dublin is Saturday 20th April.

St Patrick's Day Parade in Monaghan, this will an opportunity for people of Armagh to come over and attend a St Patrick's Day Parade.  Those from Doohamlet area could meet us in Monaghan and if you could let Donna know how many are able to attend so I have numbers for the catering.  After the parade we will all meet up at a venue for food and listen to traditional Irish Music.More details be announced soon.

Future Dates for Diaries

We have booked Kilmainham Gaol Tour for 15th June anyone interested please contact Donna.

We will be attending the Scrava Parade on 13th July anyone like to attend please contact Donna.

Cross Community Talks Series is programmes with a range of dates would like all participants to take part in. It explores the history of Orange Order, Battle of Boyne, GAA and Gaelic League, tours to Dan Winters Cottage, Boyne Heritage Centre and Croke Park Dublin.

Tour of Dan Winters Cottage and speaker David Hume from Grand Orange Lodge Saturday 27th July
GAA and Gaelic League information evening being held on Tuesday 6th August 7.30pm-9.30pm
Tour of Croke Park Saturday 17th August
Tour of Battle of Boyne with living history of the Battle on 25th August.

Mood Watchers with Shane Martin is booked for 8 weeks from Tuesday 10th Sept-29th Oct from 7.30-9.30pm.
