Following the successful application to participate in the crossborder "Integrating Community Organisations Programme" a Meet & Greet invite was extended to our partners in the programme – REACT from Co Armagh to visit our hall on Wednesday 8 June at 7.30 til 9pm. Mary Wright, React Chairperson, William Bradshaw, Vice Chair and Anne Mc Cusker, Community Development Worker attended. Present from the DDCDA to welcome the group were PJ, Roisin, Finian, Majella, Brigie A, Eileen, John G & Anne
Since REACT have a Youth Worker in their organisation it was decided to ask the Youth club to present their All Ireland winning sketches – New Underwear and Heroin. The 1st 20 minutes we were entertained by Shane Comiskey, Thomas Gorman, Frances, John & David Ryan, Sean Loughman, Andrew & Lauren Casey under the guidance of Terrisita and Joanne. Excellent entertainment enjoyed by all & was followed by light refreshment. Presentations were made outlining the activities of both groups and a very informal discussion took place in relation to what both groups are striving to achieve. All agreed that this Programme should allow both groups to interact informally, avail of some tailored training individually and as a group with the conclusion of a simple project with a satisfactory outcome to both groups
The next outing is to The Jethro Centre, Flush Place, Lurgan this wednesday 15 June to meet all 24 participating groups in the Programme - so watch this space for further update
